writings |  imaginative desire

Imaginative desire is the crazy and unfocused way that I allow myself to be who I am. It is the machine that drives me forward to be creative and daring, something which the real world often shuns. In a mechanical society overflowing with dark-suited robots, I yearn to rise above that; to fly freely in a colorful and vibrant state, away from the monotony of ritualistic schedules. Without desire, there is no imagination. Desire is the accelerant that fuels my imagination. It is the essence of my being. When I become restless, I strike the match, leading to the combustion of my mind. I am unable to operate like these robots. I cannot stand the blasé black-and-white dreariness that permeates human life. To escape from the cubicle that traps free spirits should be people's driving desire. Instead, they shackle themselves to that which they feel is safe. They feel the prison-like confinement to security is enough to sustain them throughout their existence. Sadly, they are mistaken. Without taking risks, the imaginative desire that flows deep within ourselves is gradually drained, leaving us empty and unfulfilled. Not being fulfilled leads to unwanted mental chaos which is destructive to the human psyche. Allow this imaginative desire to run its course. Refrain from barricading its path like so many of us do. Resist succumbing to the temptation of perceived normalcy. The human spirit begs to be liberated. This is our imagination. This is our desire. Do not let it drain our well. It is our blood — our lifeline — our existence.
